SHIELD
The shield displays the distinct bands and colors associated with the U.S. Coast Guard. The anchor symbolizes sea power. The red ring alludes to the "Pacific Ring of Fire," the area of operations. The gauntlet grasping the anchor emphasizes the Coast Guard Reserve's enforcement of maritime authority and counterdrug effort within the Pacific Rim. Black denotes constancy. The base signifies stability of the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve Unit to support the PACOM mission. The star indicates PACOM's vision to develop the Coast Guard Reserve into the Combatant Commander unit, "to prepare for tomorrow's challenges."

The compass rose represents direction and deployment, indicating the wide scope of PACOM's planning for the Coast Guard Reserve Unit. The globe upon the compass rose symbolizes the various geographical locations of the units.
